The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) has 12,553 logs for household water wells in Ionia County, which includes Portland. The median well among them is 106 feet deep.
Limits: well logs cover drilled wells reported to the state, not every well. Older and hand-dug wells are often missing, depths are as each driller reported them, and a county figure says nothing certain about one lot.
