How we verify every listing
No pay-to-play. A business is listed when a state license list names it, or a licensed person at its phone number, with a water well or pump installer license, and its phone or name matches an open Google profile.

States we are still waiting on
Arkansas and Missouri license well contractors too, but publish their lists only in ways we do not collect automatically (a site that refuses automated readers, or a search form). We will add these states once the agencies provide the lists.
From licenses to businesses
Some lists name companies (Oklahoma), some name licensed people with their company (Tennessee), and Texas names licensed people only. We group people who share a company and phone into one business, then look the business up on Google. It is listed only when its phone matches, or its name matches in the same town, and Google shows it open. Cities, agencies, universities and firms licensed only for monitoring, geotechnical or geothermal work are left out. We never show the address a state list gives for a licensed person; a listing's street address is the one on the business's own Google profile. Where a list prints an expiry date (Texas), we show it, and a date that had already passed when we read the list is marked.
The quality score
Every business gets a 0 to 100 score: on a state license list (30), a phone on the list (30), a matching open Google profile (20), a website (10) and two or more licensed people (10). Below 70 it stays unpublished. Nobody can pay to change the score or the order.
Rules, testing and prices
Every rule, testing program and price on this site links to the page it came from. We keep a short quote from that page, matched against the page on the day we read it. Prices are shown as published, never averaged. We do not publish individual well records or well depth maps.
Corrections and removal
Email pros@wellsnear.com. License facts are corrected against the state list; a business can ask to be removed and we remove it the same day.
